Prem Prakash Chand, General Manager, NOKIA EA

Mr. Prem Prakash Chand is the General Manager of Nokia Emerging Asia. He was appointed as General Manager in 2006. In this role Prem is responsible for Nokia Operations in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, 22Bhutan and Maldives. Mr. Prem is based in Dhaka and is responsible for the development and execution of Nokia’s strategy in these emerging markets. He joined Nokia in 1998 in the role of Finance and Commercial Director and was an integral part of the Australasian management team which has enjoyed many success over the years. He was instrumental in assisting Nokia gain market leadership in this market and was also involved in reshaping Nokia’s channel development strategy for that market. In 2003 he assisted in the launch of their gaming business in Australia and led the N media business for both Australia and New Zealand.

Prior to taking on the Emerging Asia role, Prem was responsible for their CDMA business development activities in APAC as well as Business Development for India based in Nokia’s Regional head quarters in Singapore. As part of this role he led and developed the strategy for their Emerging Asia business. Prior to joining Nokia, Prem has worked with Price Water House Coopers in Australia, New Zealand and UK involved in consulting to multinational companies in corporate advisory and market entry strategies. He brings with him a wealth of business strategy, marketing and sales management experience and has an extremely diverse background having exposure to avenge of business in numerous industries as well as cultural awareness through working with multinational companies in several countries.

A chartered Accountant, Prem obtained his tertiary qualifications from Otago University, Dunedin, New Zealand and obtained his MBA from Australian graduate school of Business in Sydney. He was the founding chairman and President of Finland Australia Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Prem enjoys golf, tennis and was a first grade socer player representing NZ Universities as well as having various representative honors.
