Bangladesh Embassy in Tashkent celebrated the Victory Day on 16 December, with due to solemnity and fervor. Expatriate Bangladeshis living in Tashkent and the officers, members of staff of the Embassy, diplomats from several embassies, along with Uzbek dignitaries attended the event.
Programme of the Day started in the morning with the hoisting of National Flag at full mast by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bangladesh to Uzbekistan MosudMannan, ndc at Chancery premises. After the flag was hoisted with playing of the National Anthem, the guests were invited to the embassy and they observed one minute silence in memory of the departed souls of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and millions of martyrs, who sacrificed their lives for the Glorious Victory.
Messages of the President of Bangladesh, Prime-Minister, Foreign Minister and State Minister for Foreign Affairs were read out before the audience by Ambassador Mosud Mannan, ndc and Counsellor Nripendra Chandra Debnath respectively.
In his speech Ambassador Mannan paid deepest homage to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and recalled the sacrifices of the freedom fighters and martyrs of 1971 Liberation War as well as to the women who made supreme sacrifice for earning Independence of Bangladesh.
Among others Ambassadors from India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam with diplomats from Korea and Afghanistan attended the event along with NRBs, journalists, writers, cultural personalities and mission officials. Finally, Bengali lunch was served among the invitees with a special cake.
