Bangladesh, 16 other nations abstain from UN voting on Ukraine issue

Bangladesh along with 16 other countries have abstained from voting on a United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) resolution on the situation of human rights in Ukraine stemming from the Russian aggression.

Apart from Bangladesh, Algeria, Bolivia, Cameroon, Cuba, Gabon, Honduras, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Morocco, Pakistan, Senegal, South Africa, Sudan, Uzbekistan and Vietnam also abstained from voting the resolution.

China and Eritrea voted against UNHRC resolution in which it decided to extend the mandate of the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Ukraine for a further period of one year, according to the UN news and media press center meeting summary.

The resolution was adopted as 28 countries – Argentina, Belgium, Benin, Chile, Costa Rica, Cote d’Ivoire, Czechia, Finland, France, Gambia, Georgia, Germany, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malawi, Malaysia, Maldives, Mexico, Montenegro, Nepal, Paraguay, Qatar, Romania, Somalia, Ukraine, UAE, UK and US – voted in favour of it. বিস্তারিত
