A group of unidentified attackers set fire to a passenger bus under a flyover in Dhaka’s Uttara on the last day of a three-day nationwide blockade enforced by the BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami.
Two units of the fire service responded to the incident in the Azampur area and extinguished the flames around 7 am on Thursday, reports bdnews24.com.
The bus in question belonged to Paristhan Paribahan, according to Rashid Bin Khaled, an officer at the fire service control room.
The fire service said it received 21 reports of fire-related incidents from Oct 31-Nov 1. Five of these incidents were reported in Dhaka city, seven in various areas across the Dhaka division, and four in the Chattogram division. There were also four incidents in the Rajshahi division’s Bogura and Raigonj, and one in the Rangpur division’s Parbatipur.
As many as 10 buses, three covered vans, three trucks, one pickup truck, one motorcycle, two commercial showrooms, and one police box were damaged in these incidents.
