The National Identity Registration Wing of Election Commission has locked the National Identity Cards (NIDs) of 10 individuals, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Sources within the Election Commission confirmed that the NIDs of several members of the Sheikh family were locked following an internal directive.
The affected individuals include: Sajeeb Wazed Joy, Saima Wazed Putul, Sheikh Rehana, Tulip Rizwana Siddiq, Azmina Siddiq, Shahin Siddiq, Bushra Siddiq, Radwan Mujib Siddiq and Tariq Ahmed Siddiq.
The move was reportedly carried out based on verbal instructions from ASM Humayun Kabir, Director General of the National Identity Registration Wing.
However, it remains unclear whether any formal written order was issued by the Election Commission Secretariat.
Officials have yet to provide an official explanation for the decision or clarify the legal basis behind the NID suspension.
