Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today said if all preparations are completed, the next general elections could be held in the week before the start of the holy month Ramadan in February, 2026.
He made the remark during a meeting with BNP acting Chairman Tarique Rahman at a London hotel this morning.
BNP acting Chairperson Tarique Rahman met visiting Chief Adviser Prof Yunus in London. Their meeting was held in a very cordial atmosphere, said a joint statement made by the Chief Adviser and the acting BNP Chairman following their meeting.
Tarique Rahman proposed to the Chief Adviser to arrange the polls before the next Ramadan.
