The youth wing of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Jubo Dal, has permanently expelled two of its leaders after they were accused of murdering a scrap trader in broad daylight near Mitford Hospital in Dhaka.
Those expelled are Razzab Ali Pintu, former assistant climate affairs secretary of Jubo Dal’s central executive committee, and Sabah Karim Lucky, joint convener of Dhaka South Jubo Dal. Both have been named in a murder case filed by the victim’s family.
The decision was announced late Friday through a press release signed by Jubo Dal’s assistant office secretary Minhajul Islam Bhuiyan.
According to the statement, on July 9, 39-year-old businessman Sohag was hacked, beaten, and hammered to death with a stone in front of the main gate of Sir Salimullah Medical College (Mitford) Hospital.
Following the case filed by Sohag’s family, Jubo Dal’s top leadership expelled the two leaders for life, revoking even their primary membership.
The organization’s president Abdul Monayen Munna and general secretary Mohammad Nurul Islam Noyon have already enforced the decision.
The statement also made clear that the party would bear no responsibility for any criminal acts committed by the expelled individuals and instructed all levels of Jubo Dal to sever organizational ties with them.
Additionally, it urged law enforcement to take strict legal action without any leniency.
Meanwhile, BNP standing committee member Salahuddin Ahmed confirmed that the BNP itself has expelled the two leaders for life over the incident. He called on the government to pursue full legal proceedings against those responsible.
