Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has issued a storm warning for Dhaka and 10 other districts, forecasting thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds and rainfall.
According to a statement signed by Dr. Md. Omar Faruq, meteorologist at BMD, the affected districts include Dhaka, Mymensingh, Faridpur, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar and Sylhet.
The advisory, issued on Saturday, warns that between Sunday morning around 9:00 AM and onward, parts of these districts may experience squalls moving in from the south or southeast at speeds ranging between 45 and 60 km/h. The storm may be accompanied by lightning and moderate to heavy rainfall.
As a precaution, local river ports in these regions have been instructed to hoist cautionary signal no. 1.
The weather department also indicated that this pattern of stormy weather may persist over the coming days.
Residents in the affected areas are advised to closely follow official forecasts and adhere to safety guidelines issued by authorities.
