Police produced the accused in court and sought a seven-day remand for Kiron, along with permission to show Atiqul Islam arrested in the case. The petition was filed by investigation officer Sub-Inspector Md Nazmul Sakib of Uttara East Police Station.

Defense lawyer Morshed Alam Shahin sought cancellation of the remand and bail for the accused, while state counsel Muhammad Shamsuddoha Sumon argued in favour of the police plea. After hearing both sides, the court granted a three-day remand for Kiran and approved the plea to show Atiqul Islam arrested.

Kiran was earlier detained by Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on 19 November last year while attempting to flee to India through the Sharsha border in Jashore. He was later sent to Jashore District Jail and has remained in custody since.

Atiqul Islam was arrested on 16 October last year from the Mohakhali DOHS area by Mohammadpur police. The following day, he was denied bail in three separate murder cases and has since been held in jail.

According to the case statement, during the anti-discrimination student movement on 18 July last year, businessman Ishtiaq Mahmud and others joined a programme when Kiron, Atiqul, and others allegedly created chaos and launched an armed attack with local weapons. They reportedly assaulted participants and opened fire with the intention to kill.

Ishtiaq was shot in the abdomen. He later filed the attempted murder case at Uttara East Police Station on 29 October.e
