The Election Commission (EC) is set to begin its series of dialogues ahead of the 13th National Parliamentary Election, starting Sunday (28 September).
The first round will bring together representatives from civil society and academics.
Speaking to The Business Standard yesterday (27 September), M Asadul Haque, assistant director of the EC’s Public Relations, said the dialogue with civil society representatives will take place at 10:30am at the EC Secretariat’s conference room in Agargaon, followed by a session with distinguished academics at 2:30pm.

According to him, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin will preside over the discussions, with other election commissioners also in attendance.
The dialogues will be broadcast live on the commission’s official YouTube channel, @BangladeshECS, and its official Facebook page, Bangladesh Election Commission Secretariat.
Speaking to media last week, EC Senior Secretary Akhter Ahmed said the dialogues are planned in several phases over the next one to one-and-a-half months.
“We will prepare the schedule sequentially, taking into account Durga Puja and weekly holidays. Political parties, election experts, freedom fighters, journalists from print and electronic media, women leaders, and other stakeholders will also be included,” he added.
