The Ministry of Religious Affairs has announced that aspiring pilgrims will be allowed to register for Hajj 2026 using
expired passports, in a bid to simplify the registration process.
In a notice issued on Tuesday by the ministry’s Hajj-1 branch, it was clarified that this temporary relaxation is intended to assist those who have not yet renewed their passports but intend to perform Hajj in 2026.
However, the ministry stressed that all passport details must be updated in official passport system before the Pilgrim ID (PID) is generated; a necessary step for visa issuance.
Failure to update the passport information in time will result in visa processing being denied.
The registration deadline for Hajj 2026 is set for October 12, in line with the Hajj roadmap provided by Saudi government.
The ministry has urged both individual pilgrims and Hajj agencies to ensure timely passport renewal and system updates to avoid complications during visa processing.
