Security Forces to Be Fully Deployed Ahead of Elections, Major Operations Planned

Lieutenant General (Retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Adviser to the Ministry of Home Affairs, has announced that law enforcement agencies will be actively deployed five days before the upcoming elections, with major security operations planned throughout the period.

He made the statement on Saturday (15 November) at around 2:30 pm in front of the Patuakhali Circuit House while speaking to reporters.

Responding to questions about whether any special operations would be conducted before the polls, the Home Affairs Adviser stated that law enforcement personnel would be on duty for a total of nine days during the election period. This includes the five days preceding the election, election day itself, and three days following the polls, during which extensive security measures will be in place across the country.

Currently, 30,000 army personnel are deployed, and during the election period, approximately 100,000 army personnel, 150,000 police officers, 35,000 Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members, 5,000 navy personnel, 4,000 Coast Guard members, 8,000 Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) personnel, and nearly 550,000 Ansar volunteers will be deployed nationwide.

He further emphasized that there will be no room for any security-related concerns during the elections, which are expected to be conducted peacefully.

Following his statement, the Home Affairs Adviser set out to inspect the Patuakhali Police Lines and the Coast Guard Station. He will subsequently visit the Kuakata Naval Police and Tourist Police Camp, where he will spend the night. Tomorrow morning, he will travel to Barishal before returning to Dhaka.

These measures are intended to ensure comprehensive election security and to maintain a transparent and peaceful voting process throughout the country.
