Dhaka, November 25, 2025 – Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin has called on all election observers to maintain strict transparency and impartiality in carrying out their duties for the upcoming 13th Jatiya Sangsad elections. Speaking at a dialogue with representatives from 40 observation organizations at the Election Commission Bhaban in Agargaon, he stressed the collective responsibility of ensuring a fair and credible electoral process.

Addressing the observers, CEC Nasir Uddin emphasized that those working at the field level must remain fully neutral and ensure that all individuals under their supervision understand the Election Commission’s sole objective: to conduct a credible election. He urged observers to avoid any interference in political campaigns and to focus solely on monitoring the electoral process, including adherence to the election code of conduct and relevant laws.

“The Commission has its own supervisory system in place, but we also intend to view this election through your observations. It is essential that your reports reflect whether the process is being conducted transparently,” he stated. Nasir Uddin highlighted that observers play a critical role at every stage, from monitoring campaign activities to evaluating the management of polling centers, the performance of presiding officers and police, and identifying any obstacles faced by voters.

The CEC also encouraged observers to provide feedback on the commission’s management, including recommendations for improvement. He noted that such insights would guide future reforms and strengthen the election process. “Your reports must be completely truthful. The accuracy of your observations is crucial, as it informs our approach to ensuring a transparent and voter-friendly election,” he said.

CEC Nasir Uddin underlined that organizing a fair election is a national responsibility requiring collaboration beyond the Election Commission alone. He emphasized learning from past experiences to improve electoral management and enhance voter confidence in the democratic process.

The dialogue session was attended by Election Commissioners Brig Gen (Retd.) Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah, Abdur Rahmanel Masud, Tahmida Ahmed, Md Anwarul Islam Sarkar, Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed, and other senior officials. The discussion centered on the observers’ responsibilities, ensuring compliance with electoral regulations, and facilitating an accessible and transparent voting environment for all citizens.

Observers were instructed to monitor campaign activities closely, report any irregularities at polling centers, evaluate the conduct of law enforcement personnel, and ensure that voters could exercise their rights without obstruction. The CEC reiterated that their primary role is observation, not intervention, to maintain the neutrality and integrity of the electoral process.

By engaging observation organizations in this manner, the Election Commission aims to strengthen public trust and accountability, ensuring that the 13th Jatiya Sangsad elections are conducted in an environment that is both transparent and inclusive. The feedback and recommendations provided by observers will be integral to shaping future electoral reforms in Bangladesh.
