The Election Commission (EC) will hold a mock voting exercise for voters from all categories ahead of the 13th national parliament election scheduled for November 29.

According to M. Ruhul Amin Mollick, Director of the EC Secretariat, the mock voting will be conducted at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Government High School in Dhaka from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. The exercise aims to ensure preparedness of the voting process and familiarize voters with the procedures.

Members of the media have been invited to observe the mock voting, enabling transparency and public awareness of the process.

Election Commissioner Brigadier General (retd) Abul Fazal Mohammad Sanaullah, along with other senior EC officials, will be present to oversee the exercise. The initiative reflects the commission’s efforts to ensure smooth and efficient conduct of the upcoming national elections.

The mock voting programme is expected to provide practical insights into voter facilitation, ballot handling, and management of polling stations. Officials anticipate that the exercise will help identify potential logistical or procedural issues ahead of the national election, allowing timely corrective measures.

This step also underscores the commission’s commitment to increasing voter confidence and participation by demonstrating procedural clarity and operational readiness. Through such preparatory measures, the EC seeks to minimize disruptions and ensure that election-day procedures are carried out efficiently across the country.

Observers note that mock voting exercises have become a standard practice in Bangladesh’s election management framework, serving as a crucial tool for training election personnel and educating voters on proper voting protocols. By simulating real voting scenarios, the commission can refine security measures, verify the functionality of voting equipment, and assess overall readiness of polling infrastructure.

The EC has emphasized that public engagement during the mock voting, coupled with media observation, will contribute to a transparent process, reinforcing credibility and trust in the electoral system. Officials involved in the programme will monitor voter interactions, troubleshoot technical issues, and ensure adherence to electoral regulations throughout the exercise.

With the national parliament elections approaching, the commission’s preparatory activities, including mock voting, are considered integral to upholding democratic practices, enhancing voter experience, and mitigating administrative challenges that may arise during the actual voting day.

The mock voting exercise scheduled for Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Government High School represents a concentrated effort by the EC to operationalize election procedures, strengthen institutional readiness, and foster public confidence in the upcoming electoral process.
