Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan today called on the younger generation to prioritize innovation and production over corruption as a means of creating wealth for themselves and the nation.
Addressing the 17th Convocation of BRAC University as the chief guest, Khan emphasized that sustainable wealth can only be achieved through productive and entrepreneurial efforts rather than unethical practices. He noted, “We all want to create wealth for ourselves, our families, and our nation. But remember, wealth can be earned in two ways: through innovation and production or through corruption. We must pursue wealth through innovation.”
The convocation was attended by distinguished guests including Vice-Chancellor of SOAS University of London Professor Adam Habib, BRAC University Vice-Chancellor Professor Syed Ferhat Anwar, University Grants Commission members Professor Md Saidur Rahman and Professor M Anwar Hossen, BRAC University Board of Trustees Chairperson Tamara Hasan Abed, and Dr. Sadia Hamid Kazi.
Khan highlighted the shifting dynamics of the global economy, stressing that future opportunities will favor capability over personal connections. “The future economy will reward capability over connections. Your position will depend on what you can actually do,” he said, underlining the significance of practical skills and adaptability.
He encouraged graduates to embrace new forms of learning, including coding boot camps and micro-credentials, to remain competitive on a global scale. He added, “Only those who can adapt, innovate, and uphold integrity will succeed in the long run,” emphasizing that ethical and creative approaches to work are critical for long-term success.
The adviser also urged students to avoid shortcuts and commit to ethical labor, stressing that individual choices directly influence national development. “Your choices will shape not only your own future but also the future of the nation,” he stated, calling on graduates to contribute to building a Bangladesh founded on creativity, ethics, and honest effort.
Earlier in the ceremony, Khan conferred graduate and postgraduate degrees along with medals to the graduating students. He encouraged them to channel their skills and knowledge toward national development and elevate Bangladesh’s presence on the global stage.
The event reflected the increasing focus on equipping the younger generation with the skills and ethical grounding necessary to thrive in a rapidly changing economic environment, while also contributing meaningfully to national growth.
