Sajeeb Wazed Joy’s 50th birth anniversary celebrated

The 50th birth anniversary of

Bangabandhu’s grandson Sajeeb Wazed Joy was celebrated today amid
increasing public expectations about his future role in political
arena as by now he played the pivotal role in setting the country’s
crucial course being the beacon of ‘Digital Bangladesh’.

Marking his birthday, different programmes were arranged including
discussions, webinars, tree plantation, cutting of cakes, doa mahfil,
distribution of foods among distressed people and distribution of
study materials among children.

Awami League, Jubo League, Krishak League and different other
associates and like-minded bodies of AL arranged programmes to
celebrate his birth anniversary.

“Thank you to everyone who has sent me birthday wishes. I am now
half a century old, the same age as Bangladesh. After 12 years of our
Awami League Government Bangladesh today is a middle income, digitized
country. I am a now middle aged tech entrepreneur!” Joy said this
today in a facebook post from his verified page.

Despite being a leading political figure, Joy so far preferred a
distinct course of action unlike any conventional politician, to
materialize the electoral pledge of the party he belongs to and his
mother Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina leads to build a Digital
Bangladesh.

Contemporary political history suggests that Joy, also Prime
Minister Sheikh Hasina’s ICT Affairs Adviser, was a key figure in
formulating the Awami League’s Vision 2021 manifesto, based-on what
the party was reelected thrice to power since 2008.

Being a member of Bangladesh’s most illustrious political family,
Joy’s character largely reflects the qualities of his grandfather
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who founded the country to remain
as the Father of the Nation.

A graduate in computer engineering from the University of Texas at
Arlington in the United States, Joy was born in 1971, coinciding with
the emergence of Bangladesh as an independent nation. His father Dr MA
Wazed Miah was an internationally reputed nuclear scientist.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today released a special commemorative

postage stamp, an opening day cover and a Data Card marking the 50th
birth anniversary of her ICT Affairs Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy and a
grandson of Bangabandhu.

The Prime Minister unveiled the 10-Taka commemorative postage stamp,
a 10-Taka opening day cover and a five-Taka Data Card at a simple
ceremony at her official Ganabhaban residence this morning.

A special canceller was used on the occasion. The stamp, first-day
cover and data card would be sold from Philatelic Bureau of Dhaka GPO
from today and those would be available at other GPOs and head post
offices across the country later.
