Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given the following message on the occasion of the ICT Expo 2017:
“I am happy to know that Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority and Information Technology and Bangladesh Computer Samity (BCS) are jointly organizing ‘Bangladesh ICT Expo 2017’ on 18-20 October.
‘Digital Bangladesh’ is not a dream, it is a reality now. Almost the whole country is under internet coverage. Over 139 million people use mobile phone, 3G technology mobile network is active and 4G technology will be launched very soon. The number of internet subscribers of the country has crossed 73 million. We have established 5,275 Union Digital Centres to provide digital services at the doorsteps of million of people. E-government system, e-filing system,
e-tendering, e-banking services, e-commerce services are going on in full swing. With mobile applications, people are getting government information and services at their fingertips. Transparency and accountability have been ensured by the digitalized working system. Digital divide between urban and rural has been mitigated. All these activities have been playing tremendous role in full implementation of Vision 2021 and 2041.
Establishing several Hi-Tech Parks and Software Technology Parks in divisional and district levels is another revolutionary breakthrough. We have emphasized in developing large scale local hardware industry to produce and assemble ICT tools, equipments and accessories with a view to making Bangladesh as an ICT industry hub of the Asia-Pacific region.
I hope that Bangladesh will be one of the most ICT resourceful countries of the world with millions of intelligent and expert workforce. We have been striving hard to establish a poverty hunger and illiteracy free Sonar Bangladesh as dreamt by the greatest Bangali of all time, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
I wish the ‘ICT Expo 2017’ a grand success.
Joi Bangla, Joi Bangabandhu
May Bangladesh Live Forever.”
