President Md Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today issued separate messages wishing the 51st Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Bangladesh Scouts a success as it will be held tomorrow.
On the eve of the 51st Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Bangladesh Scouts, the President and the Prime Minister greeted all Rovers, Scouts, Cubs, and Scout Leaders.
President Md Abdul Hamid, in his message, extended his congratulations to the recipients of the Silver Tiger and Silver Hilsa Awards and other awards in 2021 in recognition of their unique contribution to the development and expansion of Bangladesh Scouts.
Noting that ‘Scouting’ is an international, voluntary, non-political, and educational movement, the head of the state said it is a supplementary practical education system in addition to regular education.
He said that the main goal of scouting is to develop the youth of the country as self-reliant, well-mannered and ideal citizens through regular training.
He hoped that the scout authority will be sincere to speed up the scouting activities in Bangladesh in the days to come.
In her message, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, “Bangladesh Boy Scout Association was formed on April 9, 1972, after the country’s independence.”
The greatest Bangalee of all time, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman gave official recognition to Bangladesh Scouts on September 11, 1972, by issuing Presidential Ordinance 111, she said.
As a result of his inspiration and initiative, Bangladesh Scouts became the 105th independent member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement on June 1, 1974, the Premier added.
She said the Father of the Nation played a very important role in the expansion of Bangladesh Scouts at the national level and its reputation at the international level.
As the President, he (Bangabandhu) earned the honor of being the first Chief Scout in an independent country, she added.
The Awami League-led government is taking and implementing various initiatives to strengthen the scout movement, said Sheikh Hasina.
“We want to develop our children, adolescents, and youth as technology-savvy skilled human resources. Bangladesh Scouts are playing a commendable role in this regard. Along with education, Scouts are developing themselves as up-to-date citizens participating in training and various service activities,” she continued.
She hoped that every member of Bangladesh Scouts will work together to build a hunger-poverty-free, happy, and prosperous ‘Golden Bangladesh’, as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, by fulfilling their duties with utmost patriotism and devotion.
“I wish the overall success of the 51st Annual General Meeting of Bangladesh Scouts,” the Premier continued.BSS
