Chattogram has recorded its second Covid-19-related death of the year, according to local health authorities.
In addition to the fatality, six new Covid-19 cases were confirmed in the port city in the last 24 hours from 71 tests conducted across six different laboratories.
With these new cases, the total number of confirmed infections in the district over the past 13 days has risen to 62, Civil Surgeon Dr. Jahangir Alam reported.
According to Chittagong District Civil Surgeon’s Office, the latest positive cases were detected from multiple labs; one from Chittagong Medical College, three from Chevron Lab and two from Epic Healthcare Lab.
Among the 62 confirmed cases so far, 33 are men, 26 are women and one is a child. Of these, 55 patients are residents of Chattogram city, while the remaining seven are from various upazilas.
Health officials have urged the public to stay alert and continue adhering to health and safety guidelines, as the virus remains present in the community, though at a relatively low rate.
