Bangladesh recorded two more COVID-19 deaths in the 24 hours from Friday 8 AM to Saturday 8 AM, pushing the country’s total coronavirus death toll to 29,521 since the pandemic began.
According to a daily bulletin issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Saturday, seven new infections were also confirmed during this period from 181 samples tested, reflecting a daily positivity rate of 3.87 percent.
With these new cases, the total number of confirmed infections in Bangladesh has reached 2,052,080. So far this year, the country has detected 535 COVID-19 cases.
Since the detection of the first three cases on March 8, 2020, Bangladesh’s overall COVID-19 detection rate stands at 13.04 percent. The country reported its first coronavirus death on March 18, 2020. The deadliest days of the outbreak came on August 5 and August 10, 2021, when the country recorded 264 deaths on each day.
