Bangladesh continues to grapple with a surge in dengue cases as three more people died from the mosquito-borne disease in the past 24 hours, while 425 new patients were admitted to hospitals across the country.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) shared the latest figures in a press release on Tuesday.
According to the report, two of the deaths occurred in Dhaka North City Corporation and one in Khulna division. Among the deceased, two were men and one was a woman.
With these fatalities, the country’s dengue death toll for the year has risen to 51, comprising 27 men and 24 women.
The new hospital admissions over the last day include 120 patients in Barishal, 98 in Chattogram, 38 in Dhaka North, 55 in Dhaka South, 36 elsewhere in Dhaka division, 18 in Khulna, 11 in Mymensingh, 48 in Rajshahi, and one in Sylhet.
So far this year, Bangladesh has recorded 13,188 dengue cases. Of these, 7,815 are men and 5,373 are women.
