Nine people died of dengue fever across the country in the past 24 hours, while 1042 patients were admitted to hospitals.
This raises the country’s dengue death toll for 2025 to 212, with 49,907 confirmed cases reported so far.
The Health Emergency Operations Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) released the update on Sunday.
Of the nine fatalities, seven were from Dhaka South City Corporation, one from Dhaka North City Corporation, and one from Chittagong division.
Hospital admissions over the last 24 hours include 201 in Dhaka division, 198 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 121 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 195 in Barishal, 104 in Chittagong, 41 in Mymensingh, 82 in Rajshahi, 23 in Rangpur, and 9 in Sylhet.
During the same period, 898 dengue patients were discharged, bringing the total number of recovered patients this year to 47,256.
For comparison, Bangladesh recorded 101,214 dengue cases and 575 deaths in 2024. In 2023, the country saw its highest toll in recent years, with 1,705 deaths and 321,179 hospitalizations due to dengue.
