Tensions in the Middle East surged further as Iran launched a new wave of missile attacks on Israel, marking a sharp escalation in the ongoing conflict.
The strikes came in retaliation for a deadly Israeli air assault that killed at least 80 people, including key military personnel, according to Iranian sources.
Iranian state television confirmed the fresh offensive, stating that missiles were launched targeting several Israeli cities. Live footage from Tel Aviv reportedly showed multiple explosions as dozens of Iranian missiles struck urban areas. This latest response follows an earlier Iranian attack on Friday night that left three Israelis dead and 173 injured.
The Iranian state news agency IRNA described the new assault as a “hybrid attack,” involving both ballistic missiles and drone-launched explosives. The strikes were directed at multiple urban targets and, according to IRNA, intended to deliver a strong message of reprisal.
Earlier, Israeli forces had carried out a large-scale air campaign involving around 70 airstrikes that devastated several Iranian military facilities. Within hours, Iranian officials warned of an imminent retaliation, which was soon followed by this intense missile barrage.
Although Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) claim they intercepted most of the incoming projectiles, several powerful missiles penetrated defense systems and struck residential buildings in Tel Aviv, Ramat Gan and Rishon LeZion, causing widespread damage and fear.
As the cycle of attack and counterattack continues, the region now braces for further escalation in what is shaping up to be one of the most volatile confrontations in recent years.
