A private television channel MyTV’s Chairman Nasir Uddin Sathi has been arrested by Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police from Dhaka’s Gulshan on Sunday evening.
The arrest was confirmed by DB Joint Commissioner (South) Mohammad Nasirul Islam, who stated that Sathi is an accused in a murder case filed with Jatrabari Police Station during the recent Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
“The case involves serious allegations of violence resulting in death. We conducted the arrest based on legal warrants,” he said.
Sathi was taken into custody following a raid and will be presented before the court on Monday. A remand plea is expected to be submitted to assist the ongoing investigation.
Details of the specific incident and Sathi’s alleged involvement are still emerging.
The arrest has drawn widespread attention due to his position as a media owner amid heightened scrutiny of public figures linked to recent civil unrest.
