DHAKA,– President M Abdul Hamid today urged the
members of Bangladesh Judicial Service Commission (BJSC) to select
eligible candidates and take steps to recruit them in the shortest
possible time as a BJSC delegation submitted its annual report 2019 to
him at Bangabhaban this afternoon.
“All recruitment tests for entry posts under the Bangladesh Judicial
Service Commission should be held in the shortest possible time
through selecting illegible candidates,” the President said.
BSJC Chairman Justice Hasan Foez Siddique of the Supreme Court’s
appellate division led the delegation. The other delegation members
were Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Sahidul Karim of the
High Court Division of the Supreme Court.
The BJSC delegation apprised the President of overall activities of
the BJSC and the synopsis of the submitted report, President’s Press
Secretary Mohammad Joynal Abedin told BSS after the meeting this
evening.
The delegation informed the President that the selection process
was disrupted due to the coronavirus pandemic and would be completed
in the shortest possible time in the future.
Terming the appointment of judges in the lower courts as a very
important issue, President Hamid said it helps expedite the judicial
process and complete the timely trial of cases.
The head of the state expressed satisfaction over the BJSC
activities and assured of providing necessary support for smooth
functioning of the commission’s activities.
President’s Secretary Sampad Barua, Military Secretary Major
General SM Shamim-Uz-Zaman, Press Secretary M Joynal Abedin and
Secretary (attached) Md Wahidul Islam Khan were also present there.
