The government has decided to observe July 16 as a State Mourning Day in honour of “July Shaheed Day”.
The decision was announced through an official gazette signed by Cabinet Secretary Dr. Sheikh Abdur Rashid on Tuesday.
According to the notification, as part of the state mourning, national flag will be flown at half-mast on all government, semi-government, autonomous institutions, educational institutions and all government and private buildings across the country, as well as at Bangladesh missions abroad.
On this day, special prayers will be offered in all mosques across the country for the forgiveness of the martyrs.
Special prayers will also be held in other places of worship for the peace of their souls.
