Bangladesh reported three more dengue-related deaths and 319 new hospitalisations in the 24 hours till Monday morning (5 August), according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The latest fatalities—recorded in Chattogram Division (outside city corporation) and Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC)—bring this year’s death toll to 89.
With the latest infections, the total number of confirmed dengue cases in 2025 has reached 22,384.
According to the DGHS, new cases were reported as follows: 72 in Barishal Division (Out of CC), 49 in Chattogram Division (Out of CC), 58 in Dhaka Division (Out of CC), 27 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 62 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 36 in Khulna Division (Out of CC), 11 in Mymensingh Division and 4 in Rangpur (Out of CC).
A total of 1,259 patients are currently receiving treatment at various hospitals nationwide.
Dengue continues to be a major public health concern. In 2024, the country saw 575 deaths, with 101,214 total cases and 100,040 recoveries, marking it as the deadliest dengue year on record.
Public health officials have urged continued vigilance and community-level mosquito control efforts to avoid another large-scale outbreak.
