The results for halls of Jahangirnagar University Central Students’ Union (JUCSU) and Hall Sangsad elections were finally announced on Saturday evening after an intense 40-hour vote-counting process.
Voting had been conducted across 21 residential halls on Thursday, but the manual counting process has costed the long period to the election commission to reach the final result.
Hall sangsad results as follows:
Shaheed Rafiq-Jabbar Hall: VP – Mehdi Hasan; GS – Shariful Islam; AGS – Ariful Islam
Hall No. 21: VP – Ibn Shihab; GS – Oliullah Mahadi; AGS – Tushar Ahmed
Kazi Nazrul Islam Hall: VP – Rakibul Islam; GS – Ali Ahmed; AGS – Samin Yasir
AFM Kamal Uddin Hall: VP – GMM Raihan Kabir; GS – Abrar Shahriar; AGS – Ripon Mondal (uncontested)
Mir Mosharraf Hossain Hall: VP – Khaled Zubair; GS – Shahriar Nazim; AGS – Arafat Hossain
Maulana Bhashani Hall: VP – Abdul Hai Swapan; GS – Hridoy Poddar; AGS – Rakib Hasan
Shaheed Salam-Barkat Hall: VP – Maruf Hossain; GS – Masud Rana; AGS – Abrar Azim Bhuiyan
Alberuni Hall: VP – Rifat Ahmed Shakeel; GS – Muntasir Billah Khan; AGS – Sadman Hasan Khan
Nawab Faizunnesa Hall: VP – Bubli Ahmed (uncontested); GS – Sumaiya Khanam (uncontested)
Hall No. 10: VP – Asif Mia; GS – Mehedi Hasan; AGS – Nadim Mahmud
Hall No. 15: VP – Sharmin Khatun (uncontested); GS – Mehnaz Mohana; AGS – Shahana Akhter
A total of 11,897 students cast their votes, including 6,115 male and 5,728 female students, marking a turnout of 67–68%. A total of 177 candidates contested 25 posts in the Central Students’ Parliament, including 9 for VP, 8 for GS, 16 for AGS, with 6 female candidates.
The election saw participation from eight panels:
Shibir-backed ‘Integrated Student Alliance’ – full panel including VP Arifullah Adib and GS Mazharul Islam.
Bagchas-backed ‘Student Unity Forum’ – 23-member panel with VP Arifuzzaman Ujjal.
Chhatra Dal panel – 25 members, VP Md. Sheikh Sadi Hasan.
Leftist panels – ‘Unity of Harmony’ and ‘Constitutional Council’ fielded partial panels due to internal divisions.
Independent panels – ‘Independent Student Union’ and ‘Independent Commitment Council’.
The elections highlighted diverse representation, with candidates from female, tribal, and minority religious communities participating across the panels.
